Volunteer Social Media Coordinator

We are seeking a volunteer Social Media Coordinator who will play a critical role in developing and implementing social media strategies for Gumtree Greys to enhance brand awareness and engagement.

With an existing mature follower base across Meta, a planned investment into paid media, and the opportunity to launch our Tik Tok page, this is an excellent opportunity for a marketing professional to gain greater experience in their field, while helping save the lives of ex-racing greyhounds and giving these amazing dogs the second chance they deserve.

Working alongside PR and Marketing specialists on the board, as well as a dedicated volunteer social media team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of Gumtree Greys’ social presence.

Your work can be completed remotely, with the average commitment of 2 hours or more per week. This may vary depending on timelines leading up to a project or event. There is flexibility around managing your working hours and days. 

What will you be doing?

• Formalising and maintaining the brand style and guidelines for social media representation in conjunction with the existing volunteer team and board.

• Working closely with board members to develop and implement a social media strategy.

• Creating a social media calendar and leading the social media team in executing it.

• Undertaking research to provide educated guidance to the board on changes to brand direction or strategy.

• Monitoring web and social media traffic metrics with a focus on establishing efficient marketing opportunities for paid marketing investment.

• Staying informed about current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications, and finding solutions for access to these for the organisation as a not-for-profit.

Let’s talk about you!

• Working towards or achieved an undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience in marketing (desired, but not essential)
• Proven experience with social media initiatives, including but not limited to: creation of assets across multiple platforms, use of analytics and performance metrics to measure social media success, understanding of brand strategy and guidelines.
• Hands-on experience in content management with a focus on curating and refining effective content for syndication across multiple platforms.
• Understanding of the back end of Meta and TikTok from a business suite perspective, as well as a firm analytical understanding of performance metrics.
• Leadership experience in either formal or informal settings (desired, but not essential).
• Excellent copywriting skills.
• Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video).
• Clear, confident communication abilities.
• Understanding of, and experience in, the capabilities and processes involved in graphic design and content creation
• Knowledge of online marketing channels and the ability to analyse performance to ensure future posts capitalise on learnings.
